We get it. You have questions.

You want to know what's going on with the name change and whether this “new place” will be the same as the one you've known and trusted since 2008.

The truth is, it won't be....but that's not a bad thing. In fact, we believe that Growler Motor Labs will out-perform the old COBB Plano in every conceivable way. And we'll tell you why.

First, though, the backstory: In the wake of an ownership change, COBB Tuning in Austin decided to focus on its core competencies—engineering and research and development—which led to the decision to divest itself of retail outlets in Oregon, California and here in Plano. An opportunity to purchase each location was offered to the presiding general manager which, in the case of COBB Plano, meant Chris Fleming. A day one vet with extensive experience in all aspects of the performance industry, he leapt at the chance to purchase an operation he'd helped build from the ground up.
Being closer to the business than anyone else, Chris knew what worked well in Plano—a unique blend of highly skilled s
taff, premium-quality parts and a commitment to getting the job done right. But he also recognized an opportunity to make the shop more versatile and valuable to the performance community.

That's why we're so excited about the coming changes...and why we think you will be, too.

As COBB Plano, we developed segment-leading expertise that made us the go-to import tuning shop in the Southwest, one that was rated among the top-10 in the country by Complex magazine.

Subarus, Porsches, BMWs, Mazdas, Mitsubishis, Volkswagens, Nissans and Fords have always been the core of our business. To be clear,
that won't change. Neither will our commitment to COBB's outstanding slate of parts, including the world's best selling, most flexible, and easiest to use ECU upgrade solution, the Accessport.

That said, the focus of our former parent company limited us in terms of what products we could sell and what platforms we could service. Now, as Growler Motor Labs, we're ready to show you that we can do a whole lot more.

The first phase of our expansion already is underway. As you've probably heard, we've entered the domestic performance market and begun pro tuning 5th and 6th Gen Camaros along with C6 and C7 Corvettes on our in-shop dyno using HP Tuners software.

It's a significant step but also a natural one, allowing us to take advantage of some untapped expertise in our highly trained staff. Our lead mechanic, Barry Chappell, is a GM-certified technician. Our calibrator, Grant Tillman, spent years working on LS engines. These guys have the specialized know-how and the deep passion to deliver the same reliably excellent results for these domestics as we always have for performance imports.

It doesn't stop there. With HP Tuners, we now can offer calibration for most 1997-and-newer GM vehicles, along with most 2004-and-newer Ford cars and 2004-2015 Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep.
We also can now offer a wider array of performance parts with a record of results and reliablity from partners like Radium Engineering, Horsepower Research and Edelbrock.

And those are just the initial steps. Over the coming months, we plan on rolling out several bold initiatives that will transform Growler into one of the leading names in the performance industry.
